The Role of the Commissioner
  • Evangelize Catholicism and Christian values in players, coaches, parents, and fans through the sport of football.
  • Ensure accomplishment of the organization’s mission and the overall success of the league.
  • Promote an environment that espouses sportsmanship, personal health & fitness, teamwork, cultural & scholastic achievement, safety, commitment & accountability, enjoyment, character, and the fundamentals of football. (Fundamentals of football is purposely listed last).
  • Work with others in the Catholic community (parishes, schools, Knights of Columbus, & other organizations) in our collective mission to evangelize our Catholic faith.
  • Regularly attend practices and games of all teams to insure our mission and goals are being accomplished.
  • Vote at board meetings only to break ties, enforce the By-laws, resolve issues such as protest, penalties against the bench, & eligibility, and promote harmony & our common goal throughout the league.

Frank Poeschel serves as Director of the League. He believes, “In a state that is known for being fanatical about football, we wanted to create a culture where our coaches saw their efforts as a ministry. We wanted coaches to first demonstrate their faith, teaching our young men through their actions and words to understand and see life from a faith based perspective. ”

Jim Breen is the Commissioner of the League.  He got involved in the program “first and foremost to evangelize our Catholic and Christian faith to these young men through the sport of football.  Second, to teach them to become young men of character, learning the values of integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, personal responsibility, honesty, academic excellence, and the Cardinal Virtues.  Lastly, to teach them the fundamentals of football and the elements that are unique to this sport.”
